Wellbeing, Anti-Bullying and E-Safety

At St John's the wellbeing of our children, parents and staff is a top priority. We ensure this in a number of ways, including:

  • embedding in our curriculum, and school day, mindfulness and Growth Mindset principles
  • following our PSHE curriculum and myHappymind
  • we are a Girls On Board school
  • running after school clubs, such as yoga, that promote wellbeing
  • running Forest Schools sessions for all the children
  • adopting an E-Safety curriculum to keep children safe in a digital world
  • working with the Tytherington Partnership on an Emotionally Healthy Ambassadors programme
  • regularly accessing Visyon staff training and intervention programmes for the children
  • signing the Cheshire Anti-Bullying Commissions Anti-Bullying Charter
  • becoming a Stonewall Champion School to promote LGBT+ rights
  • following a 'No Outsiders' curriculum
  • exploring the 'Convention on the Rights of the Child'
  • ensuring the children access Millie's Trust First Aid training
  • listening to the voice of the child
  • making sure the children all know they are unique, they are all special and they are loved for who they are

We deliver worships and class lessons to the children addressing wellbeing, E-Safety, LGBT+ and Anti-Bullying. We have an extensive array of books and literature to be able to do this.

We are a proud Stonewall Champion School, and have worked with them to deliver and develop our approach to the teaching of LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans + other identities such as asexual).

Through our work, we aim to ensure that our children have the right language and feel confident to talk to each other, staff and their families.

As a school we have a moral duty to ensure that we promote equality for all, which is supported in law by the 2010 Equalities Act.
