School Meals

Catering Services

I am writing to introduce myself and the catering provision we provide for our children. My name is Sarah Boustead and I am the Catering Manager.

Food Hygiene Rating

I am pleased to report that following our inspection in June 2017, we have retained our 5 star rating.

School meals/packed lunches

We offer a home cooked, home-made, locally sourced, seasonal menu.  Our produce, meat and dairy are all sourced from the Cheshire area where possible and all fish used is from sustainable sources. Additionally, produce is used from our Reception garden and Gardening Club where available.

We are part of the ‘Healthy School’ provision and support the ‘healthy lunch box’ scheme. If your child will be having packed lunches please make this as healthy and balanced as possible. We do not allow hot food to be brought into school. (Our Packed Lunch Policy is available upon request).

All reported food allergies/dietary requirements must be supported by written medical evidence.

To fit into our healthy, wholesome ethos, we compost as much food waste as possible and recycle glass, plastic, tin and card which the children are involved in.

In order that the catering department can control the food ordering we require two weeks’ notice if you wish your child to stop receiving school meals.

Snacks

For a small fee, during mid-morning break we offer a toasted snack option, for example toast, crumpet etc.

Children are permitted to bring in a healthy fruit snack and we provide free fruit for all KS1 children.

Water

All children should have a named water bottle in school. This should be taken home daily for washing and refilling with fresh water (no juice: unless supported by written medical evidence).

Food Information Regulations

Due to the new legislation from the food standards agency (dated 13.12.14), the EU Law has listed 14 allergens that need to be identified if they are used as ingredients in a dish.  The information is also available for you to download on our website - please go to the tab 'Revised school food regulations'

Payment

From September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in state-funded schools in England became eligible for free school meals. This scheme is called Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) and as such you will not need to pay for lunches.

There is a small fee for the daily snack (currently set at 30p per day).

Payment is preferred half-termly, although we do accept weekly payments. The simplest method of payment is using the ePayment system.  This can be accessed from our website - see the 'ePayments' tab under the 'Virtual Office' section . Alternatively cash/cheque payments can be accepted. All cash/cheque payments must be made via the school office in a named envelope, on a Monday morning. Cheques should be made payable to 'Cheshire East BC'.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions regarding our school meal provision.

I look forward to meeting you.

Yours sincerely,

Miss S. Boustead

Catering Manager
