Visit From a Beekeeper

Class: Class 1 Year: 2016 - 2017

Today we welcomed Paul, a local beekeeper, into school with 8000 of his honey bees. 

Paul talked to us about bee keeping in our local area. We tried on bee keeping suits, tasted 3 different types of honey, looked at a rack from inside a hive, tasted pollen grains and started to make beeswax candles.

The children asked some fantastic questions and we learnt so much about the worker bees, queen bee, pollination and honey making process. 

School should be full of unforgettable days and this was one of them so thank you to Paul for such a fascinating afternoon.
