Fairtrade Fortnight

Class: Class 1 Year: 2022 - 2023

This week marks the start of Fairtrade Fortnight.

In Reception we started our learning by understanding exactly what fair and unfair means. This helped us to understand why it is unfair that farmers are not paid well enough for their hard work and the food they produce. 

We have role played scenes between the farmer and the supermarket and then talked about our own experiences of fair and unfair.

The children have identified the Fairtrade logo on a range of foods, watched how bananas are  grown and created their own bunches of Fairtrade bananas ready to sell. 

We have been very impressed with how well everyone has understood the difficult concept of being fair.
