Bienvenue en France - Impressionism

Class: Class 3 Year: 2022 - 2023

As part of our topic Bienvenue en France, pupils have studied Impressionism. Pupils researched key impressionist painters. 
Over the last half term, the children developed art skills, working towards creating their own impressionist painting.
We first looked at colour theory, mixing paint to create new colours and shades. Pupils developed brush skills to paint with short fast movements. Children each created a section of Monet's 'Sunset in Venice.' 
We combined all of our sections together to create a class painting. Finally, pupils used all the skills that they had developed to create a painting in the style of Monet during his time in Giverny.
