Week 1 - Balloon Rockets

This week children created a fair test to race balloon rockets. Children thought about what variables need to be kept the same. We talked about how the air rushes out creating the forward motion of thrust.

Week 2 – Paper helicopters

Children created their own paper helicopter. We thought about the forces that were acting on the paper helicopter as it fell toward the floor.

Week 3 – Creating our own chocolate bar

We melted our own chocolate, created our own packaging, and justified our design choices. Children thought about how some materials change state when they are heated or cooled.

Week 4 – Making butter

Children created their own butter. We thought about what happened to the cream as the butter is created.

Week 5 – Water rockets

Children had a lot of fun creating their own water rockets. We thought about the forces that act upon the rocket and variables that would lead to the rocket travelling further.
