Uganda and China Links
We are closely connected to a school in Uganda through the KNAPS sponsorship scheme. Our school sponsors a boy called Nkambwe Frank, and letters are written between us and the Tower Primary School in Kamutuuza, Uganda, where Frank attends school. We have visited the school and Frank - please see our 'Uganda Visit' tab for more details.
We regularly welcome Doreen and Alan from the KNAPS scheme into school to lead an assembly. They tell us all about their work at Tower Primary School, and how our sponsored child is doing. At the end of each assembly the Global School Council, and other children, get the chance to question our visitors, and to dress up in authentic Ugandan clothes.
Due to Covid-19 we have not received a visit this year, but have had a lovely letter to update us:
Hope everyone is well.
The children are all back at school in Kamutuuza and many have sat exams later than usual.
The Virus was not bad in Uganda but because of the lockdown many lost their jobs.
With modern technology we were able to send money for maize and rice and 114 families were given money for a Christmas Dinner.
Generally things are now much better and we pray that we might visit Uganda this November.
Many thanks for your support and look forward to the day when we can visit your school again.
We are also delighted to be linked to a school in Chengdu, China called Shuanghun Primary. We have established close links with the children, and Mrs May the Headteacher, following a British Council cultural exchange visit in October. As a result we are keen to develop this diverse friendship.
