The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Tree

Our school council, with the help of Vice Chair of Governors Mr Rogers, have planted a Glastonbury Thorn tree today, to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The Glastonbury Thorn is believed to have been brought to the UK by Joseph of Arimathea, and a flowering sprig is sent to the British Monarch every Christmas. Unlike ordinary hawthorn trees, it flowers twice a year, the first time in spring and again at Christmas.
